Sherrod Brown, who lost his U.S. Senate seat in 2024, defeated appointed Republican Sen. Jon Husted in Ohio's 2026 special Senate election. CBS News and the Associated Press projected Brown the winner on election night, November 3, 2026, Axios and CBS News reported, with Brown ahead on the large majority of counted ballots in early returns.

Husted had held the seat only by appointment, having been named to it after JD Vance resigned to become vice president, and had not previously faced Ohio voters statewide for this office. Brown, who had served three terms in the Senate before narrowly losing to Bernie Moreno in 2024 even as Trump carried the state comfortably, campaigned on economic issues including energy costs linked to AI data center expansion. Outside groups and the campaigns combined to spend upward of $200 million on the race. Brown's victory returns the seat to Democratic hands for the final two years of Vance's original term, through 2028.

This question carried no recorded community vote, so Predict Six registered no consensus forecast to compare against the result.
