Apple added a new iMac to its late-October 2026 hardware rollout, confirming expectations ahead of its "Pro and Tell" event. The 24-inch iMac gained Apple's M6 chip, offered in 10-core or 12-core CPU and GPU configurations, along with Apple's new N1 wireless chip for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 support and PCIe 5.0 storage for faster read and write speeds. Apple said the M6 model delivers up to twice the graphics performance of the outgoing M4 iMac and roughly five times faster on-device AI processing, while keeping the same chassis design and color options introduced in 2024. Pricing starts at $1,499, with pre-orders opening Oct. 28 and sales beginning Nov. 6, according to MacRumors. The iMac refresh arrived alongside a new 14-inch MacBook Pro, also built on the M6 chip and starting at $1,999, as part of a broader two-day rollout that culminated in Apple's first touchscreen MacBook Pro.
Eighty-nine percent of bettors had predicted Apple would unveil a new iMac at the event, and the community call proved correct. The refresh had been anticipated for months; Apple last updated the all-in-one desktop with the M4 chip in 2024, and supply-chain reports throughout 2026 pointed to a faster chip and possible new colors arriving before year's end.
