Georgia sends a Senate race to a Dec 1 runoff if nobody clears 50%. Does Jon Ossoff's race go to one?

Georgia's U.S. Senate race did not go to a December runoff. Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff won reelection outright over Republican Rep. Mike Collins, with the Associated Press calling the race and Collins conceding on the night of November 3, 2026, according to NPR and Axios.

Georgia law requires a runoff if no candidate clears 50% of the vote, but Ossoff's margin was wide enough that AP and other outlets projected him the winner without waiting for a second round. Ossoff entered Election Day with a significant financial advantage and had led Collins in nearly every public poll, including an AJC survey that put him 8 points ahead in October. Collins, a Trump-backed congressman who had won a competitive GOP runoff against Derek Dooley in June, tried to tie Ossoff to national Democratic unpopularity, but the strategy did not close the gap enough to force a second contest.

The outright win avoided the kind of prolonged, nationally watched runoff that decided Georgia's Senate seats in January 2021. The Predict Six community largely anticipated this outcome, with only 42% of voters forecasting a runoff among twelve votes cast, correctly leaning toward Ossoff clearing the majority threshold on the first try.
