Apple unveiled its first touchscreen MacBook Pro on Oct. 28, 2026, and opened pre-orders that same day, with deliveries set to begin Nov. 6. The redesigned laptop uses a tandem OLED display Apple calls "PROLED XDR," the company's first OLED screen on a Mac, ending years of public skepticism from Apple executives about adding touch input to MacOS notebooks. The 14-inch model starts at $2,899 with an M5 Pro chip, while the 16-inch starts at $3,399; M5 Max configurations reach $4,499 and $4,799. Apple also introduced a U.S. leasing option starting at $55.99 a month over 36 months and education pricing from $2,749. The touchscreen line sits above Apple's standard MacBook Pro lineup โ which received a separate M6 refresh starting at $1,999 the day before โ rather than replacing it.
Eighty-six percent of bettors had predicted orders would open on launch day, and the community call was correct. The touchscreen model ends years of speculation about whether Apple would bring touch support to its laptops; executives, including Apple hardware chief John Ternus, had previously downplayed the idea publicly before the company reversed course for this release.
