The debut marked her strongest first week since 2019's "Thank U, Next," which opened with 360,000 units, and a substantial increase over 2024's "Eternal Sunshine," which opened with 227,000 units. "Petal" gave Grande her seventh No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, tying her with Janet Jackson and Lady Gaga for the fifth-most chart-topping albums among solo women. All three prediction-market voters had forecast the album would clear 300,000 units in its first week; the actual figure of 295,000 units resolved the question NO, meaning the community was unanimously incorrect.
